About this artwork

Deruta, a hill town near Perugia in Umbria, has made maiolica ceramics since the Middle Ages and reached its golden age in the Renaissance, when its lustred plates were prized across Italy. Workshops and shops still fill the town, and the Regional Museum of Ceramics, among the oldest in Italy, stands by the church of San Francesco in the main square. At the retrieval, conditions were mainly clear (WMO code 1), 12.1 degrees, 20 percent cloud cover and a wind of 4.0 kilometres per hour.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
